The creation of new factsheets, along with the annual update of the current factsheets, requires extensive research. Each year, a team at the University of Michigan’s Center for Sustainable Systems verifies the facts with numerous industry, government, and academic sources. New factsheets are also created to address some of the hottest sustainability topics, such as the solar and wind power factsheets developed in 2007. This way, we can be sure that the topics and content of the factsheets are accurate and answer questions that are on everyone’s minds.
Currently the Center is seeking major sponsorship to continue these efforts.
Each year CSS factsheets are distributed internationally through elementary to college-level courses, and used by industry groups, government entities, non-governmental organizations, and individuals. They are also disseminated through the Earth Day Network on its "Resources" page.
The Center for Sustainable Systems would like to thank all the organizations which have previously supported the factsheet effort including the Alcoa Foundation Conservation and Sustainability Fellowship Program, the Wege Foundation, the US Environmental Protection Agency, the US National Science Foundation, Dow Chemical Company, and the World Steel Association.
If your company or foundation would like to become a major sponsor of these important efforts in the future through larger gifts, please contact the University of Michigan School of Natural Resources and Environment Development Office at firstname.lastname@example.org.
